Join us for an exploration into Black recreation and leisure with textile artist Kehinde Applewhite.
Inspired by the work of artist Stephen Towns, learn hand-sewing and collage techniques to share how you create space for restoration.
Participants of all ages and skill levels are welcome!

About the Artists
Kehinde Applewhite
Kehinde Applewhite (b. 2001, Redlands, California) is a Baltimore-based interdisciplinary collage artist who speaks on personal narratives, memories of loved ones, and the multifaceted nature of identity within community. In times of remembrance, questioning, and transformation, Applewhite’s collage work depicts their inner realm as they process the world around them.
Stephen Towns
Stephen Towns lives and works in Baltimore, MD. He trained as a painter with a BFA in studio art from the University of South Carolina and has also developed a rigorous, self-taught quilting practice. In 2024, Towns won the Baker Award from The William G. Baker Jr. Memorial Fund and the Mary Sawyers Imboden Prize, the top prize from the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance.
