Presented in conjunction with Commons Collaboration: Get Your Life!

Set in a trendy bakery on a military base in a medieval future, this melodrama collapses large-scale political issues such as national defense, border control, and artificial intelligence with lifestyle branding, the nuclear family, and a destabilized news cycle. Featuring music composed by Lex Brown and Molly Joyce and performances by Brown, Sam Garrett, and Atticus Hebson.

Lex Brown is an artist, musician, and writer, and has contributed to the publication that accompanies Commons Collaboration: Get Your Life!. Her work explores personal and emotional experiences in relation to large-scale social and economic organizational systems. She has performed and exhibited work at the New Museum, the High Line, the International Museum of Photography, and The Kitchen in New York; REDCAT Theater and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles; and the Munch Museum in Olso, Norway. This April through June, Brown was a resident artist at Recess Sessions in Brooklyn. Brown has an MFA from Yale University and a BA from Princeton University. Consciousness, an eight-year survey of her work, is available from GenderFail, and her first paperback fiction novella, My Wet Hot Drone Summer —an erotic sci-fi story that takes on surveillance and social justice—is available online.
