The Sun Ra Arkestra was originally led by the legendary experimental jazz pioneer and
Afrofuturist philosopher, Sun Ra, from the 1950s until the 90s. The Arkestra, now under the
direction of long-time band member Marshall Allen, continues to perform their outer space-inspired
music at jazz festivals around the world. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

Odyssey: Jack Whitten Sculpture, 1963-2017
Jazz returns to the Sculpture Garden this summer to pay tribute to the artist Jack Whitten and his deep love of jazz. Concert tickets include after-hours entry to Odyssey: Jack Whitten Sculpture, 1963-2017, open during these special concerts until 7 p.m. Day of the concert: Odyssey exhibition open 5-7 pm; doors open at 6:30 pm; concert 7 pm.

In the event of inclement weather, concerts are held in the Meyerhoff Auditorium. Outdoor Jazz + Dinner reservations must be changed to indoor seating or rescheduled by calling Gertrude’s at 410-889-3399. No refunds or exchanges.
Pack a picnic and spread out a blanket for dinner under the stars. For safety reasons, please leave glassware and glass containers at home. In the event of rain, tables will be provided in the East Wing Lobby. Please plan to eat before the concert or during intermission, as food and drinks are not allowed in the auditorium. Picnic baskets or items larger than 11x 15 inches must be checked at the free coat check during concerts in the auditorium.
