My mom, also referred to as Oma, inspires me every day. Throughout my life, she has taught me by her actions-going back to school to get her PhD when my two sisters and I were heading to college taught me that not only was education important, but it never ends; having a loving and playful relationship with my dad, still holding hands well into their 80's showed me what a happy marriage looks like; having friendships that have lasted forever, and with people of all ages taught me that when you give of yourself to others, you have a support system that buoys you in times of uncertainty; becoming an accomplished artist/painter later in life, shows me that...well, I don't have that kind of talent, but who knows. The resilience, independence and determination that my mom has displayed since my dad passed three years ago, to me is beyond words. Most of all, the love that my mom has for her three daughters and son-in-laws, and her seven grandchildren is beyond the pale. Mom, I am thankful for you and I love you gazillions.
