Focus on Female Creativity

Help us celebrate the Baltimore Museum of Art’s 2020 Vision initiative and share the story of an artist, a caregiver, a frontline worker, a mentor, or friend in our living mosaic honoring female creativity and the women who have inspired you!

In honor of Suzanne Herbert-Forton

Suzanne is a mixed media artist who uses her incredible skill with a needle and thread to stitch characters from history, her life and her imagination. She infuses humor and a love for humanity into her own art. She takes her passion for using art to tell your story into her work with children of all ages in teaching artist residencies. The quilt pictured is called "Woman Who Persisted." It's from a group project she completed with students at Western High school. It shows the power that art can have to express ideas as well to help the artist heal or celebrate. As well as being a talented artist, she is my sister and has been a role model my entire life.
