The late BMA director, mother, and curator, Adelyn Breeskin is an inspiration to all women in the arts, especially those on staff at the BMA. Under her direction, the BMA secured the Cone Collection and more than 2/3rds of the Museum’s current holdings. She curated the exhibition Abstract Expressionism, among many others; wrote the catalogue raisonné for Mary Cassatt; oversaw the expansion of the BMA; and acted as the Museum’s first Commissioner for the American Contingent of the 30th Venice Biennale. Her remarkable career at the BMA will be the subject of an exhibition opening on July 19, 2020. The show is one of 23 exhibitions planned for the Museum’s 2020 Vision initiative.
