Contemporary Wing

November 2012 reopening of the Contemporary Wing

The November 2012 reopening of the Contemporary Wing completed the first phase of the BMA’s $28 million renovation, offering visitors a taste of the kinds of innovative experiences that will mark the reinstallations of other major collections in 2014 and 2015.

Fourteen refreshed and revitalized galleries showcase masterworks by Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg alongside new acquisitions by established and emerging artists working today. Highlights of the reopening included a major architectural intervention by artist Sarah Oppenheimer; three new changing exhibition spaces, including a new black box gallery for light, sound, and moving image works; two new interactive galleries; and BMA Go Mobile, the Museum’s first mobile art guide for the collection.

“The Baltimore Museum of Art is a great treasure in our city, and we both value our wonderful experiences at the BMA throughout the years. We are really pleased to help them actualize their dreams by making this contribution.”
