Biography
Print publisher and dealer. According to a Cruikshank print (1859-3-16-595), he was also a licensed dealer of stamps. Took David Bogue (q.v.) as partner in 1841, and retired the following year. Worked frequently in partnership with publishers in Paris, such as Rittner.
Numerous lists of his publications are to be found bound at the back of his various books: eg Thomas Hood's 'Comic Annual'
Trade card in Heal Collection (Heal,111.148) advertises "Charles Tilt, Bookseller, Stationer, and Publisher. St. Brides Avenue, 86 Fleet Street. Foreign Orders executed & Schools Reading Societies supplied on liberal terms."
