Head portion of flat, hollow figure representing Huehueteotl, the "Old God" of Central Mexico (household deity, 'fundamental god of the hearth'). Facial details are modeled and incised. This example shows mouth slightly ajar, distorted cheeks, large earspools, and false beard. Hole in rear of head where it was attached to larger sculpture, armature, etc. This piece may be part of an articulated figure.
