Based on Manet's painting, Polichinelle, 1873 (Rouart and Wildenstein 213). Printed in seven colors. Although this impression is the fourth state, Fisher states that "the colors seem closer to the third state edition of twenty-five printed on a japon paper that more effectively suggested the subtle washes of a watercolor. It is possible that the Lucas impression was a special proof from this edition since Manet selected it for a dedication to an Ed. Judeau."
