From the series "Second series of etchings" (see Delteil/Melot 81-85, 88, 90, 91, 96; see also Delteil/Melot 97). It is not clear what the "official" name of this series was and indeed Melot claims that there is still general confusion about this series - "although some plates have a number, it is not known how the prints were exploited commercially, if they were sold under the same cover as the first series [see Delteil/Melot 66-78] or separately, nor if they had as successful a sale as the first series which, we have seen, went through several editions."
The Baltimore Museum of Art by purchase, 1996; The Maryland Institute College of Art,
through Henry Walters, Baltimore, by bequest 1909; from George A. Lucas, Paris

Inscribed: Signed and inscribed in plate: lower left "Daubigny"; lower center "un cochon de propriètaire qui ne fera de bien qu'après sa mort"; lower right "IMP. BEILLET" Inscribed in pencil: verso, in Lucas' hand "Coln. Chaplin"
