Come celebrate the inaugural exhibition for the BMA’s new Patricia and Mark Joseph Education Center! Join us for a free and festive day-long event with activities for all ages. Enjoy creative art-making activities, fascinating demonstrations, lively performances, and intriguing in-gallery conversations that engage with the deep, varied, and complex connections we all have to home.

All day you can:

  • Experience the BMA Outpost
  • Make miniature home sculptures
  • See a Painted Screen demonstration by John Iampieri, and Anna Pasqualucci
  • Get the book "The Painted Screens of Baltimore" and have it signed by author Elaine Eff
  • Enjoy a delicious meal from Food Trucks, including Dizzy Cow
  • Meet the staff of The Loading Dock and learn about reusable building materials

The fun-filled day will also include:

  • 11:30am-2 pm – Explore Inflatable Architecture with Rachael Shannon
  • 12-12:45 pm – Listen to a dramatic performance of “The Last House Standing” with Sheila Gaskins
  • 12-2 pm – Participate in a dance activity with Lynne Price
  • 12-3 pm – Make a crazy quilt square with Susie Brandt
  • 12-4 pm – Taste hand-crafted preserves with Carma’s Café
  • 12-4 pm – Learn about home remedies with Olivia Fite, OHerbals
  • 12-5 pm – Put yourself in a miniature room at the Photo Booth
  • 1-1:45 pm – Hear excerpts from “Haven” The Stoop’s upcoming storytelling show at the BMA and share your stories about home
  • 1-3 pm – Watch a screening of home movies
  • 2-3 pm – Meet artist Marian Glebes and members of her team
  • 3:30-4 pm – Learn to play the spoons with Skeff Flynn
  • 4-4:45 pm – Enjoy a performance by “Neil Feather's Lonely High Jugband” with Ruby Fulton, Jason Reed, and Michael Shanks on kitchen-inspired instruments by Neil Feather
