Kinetics Dance Company presents an evening of contemporary modern dance, featuring four premiers.

Artistic Director Lauren Snyder presents a new work exploring themes of depth, submersion, and reflection, with the goal of creating a layered viewing experience wherein hidden movement surfaces into sight. Company dancer Erin Gum premiers a piece manipulating visual point-of-view and perception. Meagan Singleton restages Immersion, using precise, desperate movement to convey a visceral sense of fear. Company member Franki Trout premiers a light and comedic new duet about the unwrapping and opening of packages.

Also on the evening’s program is The Thing You Think You Cannot Do (2015), by guest artist Ken Skrzesz, evoking the words of Orison Swett Marsen, Frank Herbert, Henry James, John Lennon, and Eleanor Roosevelt in a resilient and joyful quintet. Fact/st/ory (2015), a piece by Lauren Snyder, juxtaposes the cadence and meter in the work of Edgar Allan Poe with sounds and images from an industrial mid-19th century city. Hints (2015), by Erin Gum, set to music by Chopin, untangles and amplifies a bond between song and movement.
