Jazz returns to the Sculpture Garden this summer to pay tribute to the artist Jack Whitten’s deep love of the genre. Enjoy evening access to the exhibition Odyssey: Jack Whitten Sculpture, 1963–2017, open during these special concerts from 5-7 pm. Concert doors open at 6:30 pm.
With breath-taking command of the piano, Lafayette Gilchrist is widely regarded as one of the area’s most prolific and original composers. He tours nationally and internationally, and has performed with a host of prominent artists including Carl Grubbs, Cassandra Wilson, Macy Gray, and many more. His compositions, Assume the Position and Coded Sources, are a part of the original score from David Simon’s The Wire and Treme. Tickets for the general public available April 28.
