One of 237 book illustrations the "White King" (Weiss Kunig) book commissioned by Maximilian I. Many of the blocks were cut 1515-1516. The project remained unfinished at Maximilian's death, but proofs survive. In 1775 the illustrations were published by J. Kurzbock, and in 1799 by J. Edwards. There are five prints in the Garrett collection which are believed to be from the 1799 publication.
