Children and families are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animal to an enchanting, imaginative tea party featuring story time, inspiration, and a coloring book. Step into a world of creative play as artist Rachel Lee Hovnanian guides children, their stuffies, and their parents through this shared, phone-free experience.

The program centers on a story in which a cherished teddy bear is forgotten when its owner becomes distracted by screens. When the child remembers their beloved companion, they rush outdoors and rediscover the beauty, connection, and wonder of the natural world.

This family-friendly program complements Nature Deficit Disorder, Hovnanian’s current installation at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Visitors are encouraged to experience the installation with their child before or after the program, locking away their phones before entering a simulated nighttime forest in the Museum’s Spring House.

At its core, Hovnanian’s work invites us to disconnect from devices in order to reconnect with one another, rediscover presence with our loved ones, and reclaim the art of attention.

Attendance is first come, first seated. Feel free to drop in and out as your schedule allows.
