Joshua Johnson Council (JJC)
The Joshua Johnson Council (JJC) is one of the nation’s oldest museum support groups devoted to African American and Black Diaspora art. An affiliate organization of the Baltimore Museum of Art, JJC meets monthly for tours, talks, studio visits, panel discussions, and other programming to connect the Museum and the community.
The guest artist program, JJC Talks, presents lively conversations with local artists, livestreamed on the BMA’s Facebook page. JJC also sponsors a Museum intern, contributes to purchases of art, and supports community engagement and Museum events. Membership dues support these events and further JJC’s mission of service.

The Joshua Johnson Council Artist in Residence program will select two Baltimore‑based artists for a summer residency at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). The residency will run from June 1 to July 27, 2026.
