Wearing a crown with the figure of Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, the Bodhisattva Guanyin (Avelokitesvara) has a parrot of Amitabha's Pure Land, or Western Paradise, above one shoulder and a vase of pure water above the other. Their right hand makes the gesture of compassion or gift-giving, and their left forms the gesture of discussion or teaching. Avelokitesvara assists the faithful in being reborn in the blissful realm where Amitabha resides.
