Curatorial
Dylan K. Hill joined the BMA’s Contemporary Art Department as the Meyerhoff-Becker Curatorial Fellow in 2024. Primarily dedicated to assisting in the curation of the Meyerhoff-Becker Commission in the museum’s East Lobby, she also aids in the department’s execution of additional commissioned installations. As her curatorial practice develops, she aspires to center underrepresented perspectives, interrogate colonial narratives and envision pathways for museums to better serve and engage with their local community.
Having completed her MA in the history of art and design at the Pratt Institute, where she also served as a research assistant, her research explored the ways in which Native Hawaiian culture, U.S. imperialism, and tourism continue to shape art and design in the islands. She has over ten years of customer service experience, including five years as a Hawaiian Airlines flight attendant. Working in Hawai‘i’s tourism industry significantly shaped her research interests.
While flying, Dylan also volunteered at the Honolulu Museum of Art in the Visitor Engagement Services Department from 2016-2018 and the Watts Empowerment Center in Los Angeles as an education assistant during the impacts of Covid-19 in the spring of 2021.
