Curatorial

Helene Grabow (she/her) graduated from Carleton College with a degree in political science. In 1998, while working as a project manager for Wells Fargo Corporation, she began volunteering as a BMA docent.

In 2008, she interned in the Contemporary Department and was hired as the department’s curatorial assistant later that year. She has relished working with BMA colleagues, artists, studios, lenders, and galleries on dozens of exhibitions ranging from regional prizes and collection shows to commissions, lobby installations, and traveling exhibitions. In 2017, she curated Front Room: Adam Pendleton. As a curatorial assistant she built strong bonds with Trustees, Accessions Committee Members, and Members of the Friends of Modern and Contemporary Art, for whom she facilitated over one hundred events. In 2021, she became Senior Collection Development Manager for the Department of Contemporary Art. In this role she oversees the contemporary acquisition process, administers accessions funds, facilitates collection care and management, and promotes engagement with the collection.
