BMA Council Day Tour

Explore two new exhibitions during one Council Day Tour!

Join Leslie Cozzi, Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs at the BMA, for a look at the first comprehensive museum exhibition of the profoundly moving and complex work of Darrel Ellis, co-organized with The Bronx Museum of the Arts. Darrel Ellis: Regeneration highlights the multifaceted body of work merging painting, sculpture, photography, and drawing the artist created before he died of AIDS-related causes at age 33.

We are also delighted to present a close look at Stanley Whitney: Dance with Me Henri with Katy Rothkopf, The Anne and Ben Cone Memorial Director of The Ruth R. Marder Center for Matisse Studies and Senior Curator of European Painting and Sculpture at the BMA. The exhibition explores Stanley Whitney’s lifelong engagement with Henri Matisse’s color, drawing, and composition and reveals his thinking through the stained-glass windows that are now a permanent feature of the BMA’s Center for Matisse Studies.

Invitations will be mailed.

In-kind support for Darrel Ellis: Regeneration is thanks to Candice Madey, New York.
Stanley Whitney: Dance with Me Henri is generously supported by an anonymous donor and AIG Private Client Group.
