Council Talk & Reception Martha Jackson Jarvis: What the Trees Have Seen
The Baltimore Museum of Art invites BMA Council Members to an opening reception and artist talk for the exhibition Martha Jackson Jarvis: What the Trees Have Seen.
During the talk, regional artist Martha Jackson Jarvis will discuss her latest bodies of work including the Adaptation series, a suite of 13 abstract paintings contextualized through the story of her great-great-great-great-grandfather Luke Valentine’s service as a free Black militiaman in the American Revolution. Reception with the artist to follow.
This event will feature performances by two of the artist’s collaborators, poet Carol A. Beane and bassist Herman Burney, a lecture by the artist, and a Q&A with the exhibition’s curators.
