For Families

Free Family Sundays: Dreaming and Creating with the Earth

Meet us in the Joseph Education Center Studio and create your own wall art that celebrates nature’s tapestry. Explore a mix of natural materials and traditional art supplies to design your unique work of art. A collection of nature-based symbols, quotes from various cultures, and literature will be available to customize and add to the composition.

This workshop is presented as part of the socially engaged project and workshop series, Dreamseeds, and the BMA’s Turn Again to the Earth environmental initiative.

About the Artist

Dirk Joseph is a Baltimore based visual and performing artist, and community art facilitator. Dirk teaches visual art and puppetry, and is the founder of String Theory Theater, a small family-based puppetry troupe. He is the Art Director for the Garden Art Party, a city-wide initiative to connect residents to their local urban farms and community gardens.

Dirk recently completed his first large scale public art commission, a mural titled “We Are Nature” which was installed in Baltimore’s Broadway East neighborhood. He is currently exploring using soil as a sculpting and texturing medium, as well as a source of natural pigments. Dirk was born in Trinidad, grew up in NY, and has been called Baltimore home since 2002.
