Free Family Sundays: Beadscape
Meet us in the Joseph Education Center Studio to create a collaged bead painting inspired by Jimoh Buraimoh’s The Three Wise Men (1991) in the African Art collection. This program will be led by Kim Tyson, Teaching Artist at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Free Family Sundays is a drop-in, art-making workshop designed for families with children ages 6 to 9 years old.
Teaching Artist
Kim Tyson is a Teaching Assistant at the Baltimore Museum of Art. She has worked with families from Baltimore and around the world during the Free Family Sundays program. She has also participated in Community Day workshops and Art After Hours activities at the BMA. In addition, Kim has facilitated art-making workshops in conjunction with Baltimore City and Baltimore County Public Schools exhibitions. As an active teaching assistant, Kim has worked with several visiting artists including author and illustrator Kevin Sherry, painter Katie Pumphrey, collage artist Safiyah Cheatham, and mixed media artist Edgar Reyes. A native of Baltimore, Kim holds an MA in teaching from Morgan State University, an MA in liberal studies, and a BA in fine arts, both from Notre Dame of Maryland University. Kim’s professional experience includes teaching art to elementary students with Baltimore City Public Schools, Art Curriculum Specialist with Connections Education, and serving as an International Export Specialist with the worldwide logistics firm Vanguard Logistics.
