For Families

Free Family Sundays: Textures with Modeling Clay

How can we explore materiality to share our perspective? Inspired by Recasting Colonialism: Michelle Erickson Ceramics, young artists will investigate media, textures, and themes to discover innovative ways to express their viewpoints on issues they’re passionate about.

Recasting Colonialism: Michelle Erickson Ceramics is located on the third floor of the Contemporary Wing. Visit the exhibition now through October 1, 2023.

Teaching Artist

Nicole Petrilena

Nicole Petrilena is a Baltimore City Public School art educator and practicing fine artist. She graduated from MICA with her Bachelor of Fine Arts and her Master of Arts in Teaching. In the classroom, Nicole uses art to help students understand themselves and the world around them. Art is a way of making connections and expressing oneself through a variety of materials and processes. In her personal studio practice, Nicole’s abstract art is all about the microscopic world and how we relate to it through shape, line, and color.
