In Conversation with Jerrell Gibbs
In March 2021, Dr. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings commissioned the official portrait of her late husband, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings. Painted by Baltimore-based artist Jerrell Gibbs, the work is on view for a limited time in the Museum’s historic Fox Court before it is relocated to its permanent home in Washington, D.C.
Join Dr. Cummings and Christopher Bedford, BMA Dorothy Wagner Wallis Director, in a virtual conversation with Jerrell Gibbs to learn more about this work of art and how it reflects the congressman’s commitment to the cultural fabric of Baltimore. The artist selection process for the portrait and Gibbs’ body of work will also be covered during the conversation. Questions will be taken at the end of the talk.
This conversation is free to the public and will be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube.
