Teacher Workshop: Joyce J. Scott: Walk a Mile in My Dreams
Join educators from across the state for a hands-on workshop exploring Joyce J. Scott: Walk a Mile in My Dreams. Designed exclusively for teachers, this workshop begins with a light breakfast and includes a private curatorial tour of Joyce J. Scott: Walk a Mile in My Dreams, a collage workshop led by teaching artist Espi Frazier, and discussion connecting artworks that explore identity, social justice, and joy to your classroom.
Participants will also receive a BMA tote bag and 10% off at the BMA Shop. All educators are welcome!

9:30-10:30 a.m. – Exclusive access to Joyce J. Scott: Walk a Mile in My Dreams with a private tour led by Cecilia Wichmann, Associate Curator of Contemporary Art
10:30-10:45 a.m. – Transition time
10:45-11:45 a.m. – Artmaking with teaching artist Espi Frazier
11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – Discussion and classroom brainstorm
Teaching Artist
Espi Frazier is a visual artist and art instructor born in Chicago, Illinois, and a Baltimore resident since 1993. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. In her work, Frazier represents the female as goddess and life-giver and celebrates the beauty of African American women and the universal beauty of all humanity. She is a friend of Joyce J. Scott and assisted in Scott’s artwork The Threads That Unite My Seat to Knowledge, included in the exhibition.
