Visual Description
“A Bucket Full of Treasures (Papa Gave Me Sunshine to Put in My Pocket)” is a vertical oil painting on linen, measuring 54 inches by 43 inches, of a figure standing in the center of the work, gazing out to the viewer, and leaning on their right leg in a slight contrapposto. The figure’s skin tone is rendered in grayscale, and the painting crops their legs below the thighs. The background is a solid hue of bright yellow. The figure sports a short afro, a thin mustache, and a goatee that extends slightly below their chin. Their arms hang at their sides from a white short-sleeved shirt featuring a graphic of a lobster and a radiating sun. The shirt features a navy-blue collar with a gold zipper reaching halfway down the shirt’s length. The hems of the shirt, its sleeves, and its two pockets are all navy blue. The shirt is untucked over a pair of forest-green pants.
