Visual Description

“A God Blessed Land (Empire of Dirt)” is a horizontal oil painting on linen, measuring approximately 96 1/8 inches by 130 1/8 inches, of an adult figure gazing out toward the viewer and standing on a large tractor in a grassy field. Their skin tone is rendered in grayscale. The figure has short, black curly hair and a thick, mid-length beard. They wear blue denim overalls over a white T-shirt. The overalls feature gold buttons and buckles, a small red patch with the brand name “Dickies” on the chest, and are cuffed above the figure’s dark brown boots, which are in shadow. The figure squints in the bright sunshine and leans on crossed arms that rest on their left knee, which is perched on the tractor’s back wheel. The tractor, a John Deere 820 model, is green with yellow rims and a pink steering wheel. It is situated on long green grass, with its front facing the left side of the image. Three extremely thin, black-and-white fence wires run behind the tractor. An orange ribbon or wire marker is tied to the middle wire on the far left of the canvas. The sky, which comprises most of the background, is a light blue with subtle streaks of white clouds.
