Visual Description
“A Golden Afternoon” is a vertical oil painting on canvas, measuring 54 inches by 43 inches. An adult figure stands at the center of the work, placing their weight on their left leg in a slight contrapposto, and gazing toward the viewer. The figure’s skin tone is rendered in grayscale, and the painting crops their legs below the thighs. The background is a solid pale green. The figure’s short, curly black hair reaches a small peak at the top of their head. Sideburns connect to a thick mid-length beard. The figure peers through brown–and–beige tortoise shell eyeglasses. They wear an unbuttoned, bright yellow work jacket, with an orange handkerchief protruding from their left breast pocket. This jacket is worn over a baby blue button-up shirt, which is buttoned up to chest level to reveal a chartreuse collared shirt beneath it. With their right hand, they hold a rich brown-toned, wide-brimmed hat with a light brown band against their torso. Their left hand is hidden in the pocket of their deep–green chinos.
