Visual Description
“The Boy with No Past” is a vertical oil painting on canvas, measuring 54 inches by 43 inches. A figure, perhaps in his teens, stands in the center and gazes outward toward the viewer through vintage-looking goggles with deep olive-tinted circular lenses with red frames. The background is dark beige textured by red speckles, which seem to subtly concentrate behind the figure’s head and off to the right of the painting. His skin tone is rendered in grayscale, and the painting crops his legs below the knees. The figure has a bald or closely shaved head, and his arms hang fully extended with his palms pressed against his sides. He wears a loose button-up shirt with medium blue-and-light-blue stripes, which run vertically down the torso and sleeves but horizontally across the shirt’s cuffs and collar. The shirt’s buttons, all of which are fastened, are translucent white or light blue. The shirt is tucked into pastel yellow chinos, which are creased neatly down the center of both legs.
