Visual Description

“What’s precious inside of him does not care to be known by the mind in ways that diminish its presence (All American)” is a vertical oil painting on canvas, measuring 54 inches by 43 inches, of an adult man standing in the center of the composition and gazing outward to the viewer with his thumbs hooked in his pockets. His skin tone is rendered in grayscale, and the painting crops his legs below the thighs. The background is a solid shade of pale camel. The figure wears a black cowboy hat and a button-up shirt with an American flag pattern on the front. The right sleeve and collar of his shirt are the same navy blue as the flag, and the left sleeve is solid white. The shirt is buttoned all the way up to his neck with white buttons and is tucked into a pair of medium-washed denim jeans that has a black belt threaded through its loops. The belts silver buckle has an ornate floral pattern with lines flowing around a golden horse shown mid-gallop. The figure’s expression is firm and dignified.
