Access Information
Entrance
The Zamoiski East Entrance has a ramp to accommodate mobility aids and strollers. The address for accessible pickup and drop-off is 10 Art Museum Drive, Baltimore, MD, 21218.
Parking
Four accessible parking spaces outside the Zamoiski East Entrance are available to visitors. If all designated accessible spots are occupied, then visitors with accessible tags may park in any BMA visitor lot space, and their parking will be complimentary. See Directions & Parking.
Elevators
Upon entering the BMA through the Zamoiski East Entrance, visitors have access to two elevators to reach the second floor. One elevator is located in the back of the Segal East Lobby; the other is adjacent to the Nancy Dorman and Stanley Mazaroff Center for the Study of Prints, Drawings and Photographs. Additionally, another elevator in the Contemporary Wing provides access from the second floor to the third-floor galleries.
Restrooms
Gender diversity is welcome in all restrooms throughout the Museum. Please use the bathroom that most comfortably meets your needs.
- First Floor
- All first-floor restrooms are fully accessible, including the Segal East Lobby’s multi-stalled restrooms, the family restroom located inside the Segal East Lobby’s coat room, and the single-stalled John Waters Restrooms.
- Second Floor
- The multi-stalled restrooms adjacent to the Cone Wing are not yet fully accessible.
Animals
Service animals are welcome in the Museum galleries, the Meyerhoff Auditorium, and the Sculpture Gardens. Pets, emotional support animals, and therapy animals are not permitted.
Access Resources
Mobility Aids
Manual wheelchairs are available free of charge at the coat room in the Segal East Lobby.
The Meyerhoff Auditorium is fully accessible to mobility aids. For events there, accessibility ushers are posted near the entrance. They are on hand to help visitors find reserved seating along the perimeter, near ASL interpreters and captioning screens, and in sections for visitors who have mobility aids as well as companions and service animals.
Seating
- First Floor
- Benches are available to the right and left upon entering the Segal East Lobby.
- Folding stools are available upon request at the Welcome Desk in the Segal East Lobby.
- Cloth couches, wooden stools, and bean bags as well as plastic benches, chairs, and stools are available throughout the Joseph Education Center.
- Second Floor
- Metal benches with armrests and backs are available along the perimeter of Antioch Court.
- Wide, cushioned benches with velvet or leather upholstery are available throughout the Cone, Jacobs, and Contemporary Wings.
- Wide, cushioned benches with velvet upholstery are available along the perimeter of Fox Court in the Scott Wing.
- Seats with armrests and backs are available in the Contemporary Wing’s Robert & Ryda H. Levi Gallery (Black Box gallery).
- Third Floor
- Wide, cushioned benches with leather upholstery are available throughout the Contemporary Wing.
Floor Indicators
Textured dashed lines on floors throughout the Museum signal the presence of touchable accessible resources on nearby gallery walls and pedestals.
Digital Guides
Audio tours, videos, and additional learning resources are available on the BMA’s Digital Guides page and Bloomberg Connects app. Many guides include alt text, transcriptions, visual and audio descriptions, and large-print labels. Exhibitions and artworks with digital content can be accessed throughout the Museum using tactile QR codes.
Touch Objects
Visitors can find tactile experiences—such as artist-commissioned touchable objects and areas for hands-on art-making activities—within several galleries and in the Joseph Education Center. Touch objects are accompanied by both printed text and braille labels.

Visual and audio descriptions are available in print and digital formats for select galleries and exhibitions. To access the latest digital description resources, please visit the BMA’s Bloomberg Connects app.
Large Print
Large‐print labels are available in print and digital versions in select galleries or by request at education@artbma.org. Select galleries provide magnifiers and are available upon request at the Welcome Desk in the Segal East Lobby.
Captioning and Transcription
All in-gallery videos offer open captions, enhanced transcriptions, or sound descriptions. All events in the Meyerhoff Auditorium feature ASL interpretation and live captioning provided by Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) services.
Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive listening devices are available for programs in the Meyerhoff Auditorium. To request these services, email education@artbma.org.
ASL Interpretation
ASL interpretation is available upon request at no cost for guided tours and programs. Please make your request at least two weeks before your visit. To request these services, email education@artbma.org.
Photosensitivity
Advisory language is used for all videos containing flashing lights, spinning visuals, and other patterns that may affect photosensitive visitors.
Quiet Room
The Quiet Room in the Joseph Education Center provides soft seating, dimmable lighting, fidget and sensory devices, drawing journals, and ear defenders in sizes available for adults and children.
Book Nook
The Joseph Education Center’s Insight Lab gallery offers a dedicated space for quiet contemplation and reading with books inspired by art for all ages and abilities. Highlights include picture, audio, and braille books for children.
Emergency Evacuation
The Museum’s fire alarms operate with both visual and audible signals in the case of emergency evacuation. Security staff are trained to guide all visitors to secure areas outside the building.
